ACRS Treatment in Tokyo

Autologous cytokine-rich serum

Looking for ACRS treatment in Tokyo? Rejuva Medical Clinic (approximately a six-minute walk from Omotesando Station, Exit A4) offers ACRS, an anti-inflammatory regenerative treatment in which cytokines and growth factors from your own blood are amplified to roughly 5 to 15 times their normal level and injected with no additives. One session is ¥220,000 (monitor price ¥98,000) and a course of three sessions is ¥572,000 (monitor price ¥264,000), tax included. ACRS is provided under a Class III regenerative medicine plan filed with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (PC3200161). Three doctors, including clinic director Dr. Rena Hirata, offer consultations in English.

What is ACRS?

ACRS stands for autologous cytokine-rich serum. A small sample of your blood is incubated in a dedicated tube, which stimulates your own cells to produce anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors at 5 to 15 times their usual concentration. Red and white blood cells and platelets are then removed, so only the serum is injected. No preservatives, additives, or synthetic drugs are used.

The treatment works in two steps: first the anti-inflammatory cytokines act as a brake on chronic inflammation in the skin, and then the growth factors act as an accelerator for regeneration. This is why ACRS is used for concerns where inflammation is part of the problem, such as redness, sensitive skin, acne, and acne scars, as well as for general loss of firmness and glow.

ACRS or PRP?

Both are prepared from your own blood and both are regulated as regenerative medicine in Japan. PRP is built around platelets and growth factors, and suits deeper lines and volume loss. ACRS contains a higher concentration of cytokines and suits chronic redness, sensitive skin, acne, and skin-quality improvement. Rejuva offers both, and the doctor will recommend one, the other, or a combination at the consultation. See also PRP therapy (Cellular Matrix PRP+HA).

Treatment areas

  • Face: firmness, glow, fine lines, pores, dark circles, redness, and acne scars. Delivered as a mesotherapy-style injection across the face or by manual injection by the doctor.
  • Scalp: for thinning hair, as part of the clinic's hair growth mesotherapy.
  • Intimate area: for dryness and discomfort, including atrophic vaginitis, after childbirth or with age.

For international patients

Three doctors, including clinic director Dr. Rena Hirata, offer consultations in English. No interpreter is needed, and English-speaking patients pay the same prices as Japanese-speaking patients. The treatment takes about 60 to 90 minutes including the blood draw and incubation. Redness and needle marks largely settle by the next day, so most visitors can continue sightseeing or travel the following day.

Risks and downtime

Temporary redness, mild swelling, and needle marks at the injection sites usually settle within a few days to one week. Bruising, when it occurs, is absorbed within one to two weeks. Because the serum is entirely derived from your own blood, allergic reactions are very unlikely, but infection remains a rare possibility. Please tell the doctor about any medical conditions, medications, or allergies at the consultation.

FAQ

What is ACRS, and how is it different from PRP?

ACRS (autologous cytokine-rich serum) is a serum prepared from your own blood in which anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors are amplified to roughly 5 to 15 times their normal level. Red and white blood cells and platelets are removed, so only the serum is injected. PRP is built around platelets and growth factors and suits deeper lines and volume loss; ACRS has a higher cytokine concentration and suits chronic redness, sensitive skin, acne, and skin-quality improvement. The doctor will recommend one or the other, or a combination, at the consultation.

How much does ACRS cost in Tokyo at Rejuva?

One session is ¥220,000 and a course of three sessions is ¥572,000, tax included, delivered either as a mesotherapy-style injection or by manual injection by the doctor. Monitor prices of ¥98,000 for one session and ¥264,000 for three are available to patients who agree to the clinic's monitor conditions. The initial consultation fee is ¥3,300, including tax.

Which concerns is ACRS suitable for?

Loss of firmness and glow, fine lines, enlarged pores, dark circles, sensitive or easily irritated skin, acne and acne scars, thinning hair, and dryness or discomfort of the intimate area (including atrophic vaginitis). Because the serum contains only your own blood components, it is also an option for patients who react to hyaluronic acid or other injectables.

How many sessions are needed, and how long do results last?

Many patients notice improved glow and firmness after one session. A course of about three sessions, spaced three to four weeks apart, is recommended for longer-term improvement in skin quality, which typically lasts six months to one year.

Is there downtime?

After mesotherapy-style injection there is redness and small needle marks immediately after treatment, which largely settle by the next day; makeup can be applied the same day or the next day. Manual injection by the doctor may cause mild swelling or bruising for several days. Because the serum is entirely derived from your own blood, allergic reactions are very unlikely.
